A Day At The Races

Barbecue Day
Featured Photo by Ivor Steven

I awoke with moonbeams dancing
in my heart
and happy stardust sparkling
in my eyes
knowing my first gathering
out of lockdown
was going to be a fun barbecue day
and a renewal of absentee friendships

our last time together seems
many moons ago
so, there were plenty of handshakes
and welcoming hugs
lively laughter, and lovely memories
of bygone times
there was the same old quirky banter
with those familiar. cheeky, smiling eyes
and face to face connection
was no longer a surprise
