Ashes

Ashes to ashes
dust to dust
among the light.

The light you gave
once filled me
with immeasurable hope.

I placed my trust
into what I believed
was a sincere friend.

I believed in you
gave all into who
I believed was my family.

I wander the desert,
beaten and broken
in humiliation.

Ashes to ashes
dust to dust
among lonely nights.

The wilderness
now my home
without you.
