A Yellow Stump
Once upon a time
Before the days of landmines
I stood strong and free
In the westerly breeze
Then one day, a war’s windstorm
Crucified my peaceful platform
And I was recklessly blown down
Upon my neutral ground
My body landed with a flump
And left behind a yellow stump
A forlorn poisoned lump
Inside the planet’s toxic dump
