Arahura – A Poem

Human Standing On New Zealand Coast

A winding misty mountain pass

Breaking against the shore

There I danced amongst blue gold

Where drips of crystal water flow

I ran to meet you as we crossed the bridge

Where the Arahura spilled her stories

Into the Tasman Sea:

Dancing on driftwood

‘Til I felt her bones

Her blood – the water

And In my dreams – she sang to me

In the choir of whale and bird song: Finally free

This poem was written in reference to the Arahura River. To learn more about the location visited in 2018 this poem was written about and some of its history please visit this website here.
