Goblin’s Unexpected Visitor

Come inside my hoarded lair
And see what I have found!
Many things, both dark and fair
Are scattered all around.
Shiny trinkets made of gold,
Soft piles of warm skins,
Rotten clothes with blood and mold,
Teeth and trophies from my wins.
Pristine bones in earthen pots,
Smooth rocks from stones and streams,
Many ropes with frays and knots,
Carry-bags with holey seams.
Rusted swords that cease to cut,
Armor from a fallen knight,
Broken bows strung with gut,
Lamps and torches for the light.
Precious metals in the walls,
Jewels that sparkle like the stars,
Three big hats for when rain falls,
Many shelves of jugs and jars.
Flowers, seeds, and rotting meat
In barrels made of pine,
Ancient wine that tastes so sweet,
And it’s mine, all mine!
It goes as far as you can see.
Come in and stay a while!
But if you try to steal from me,
I’ll add you to the pile.
