Sweet Summertime
The Summer is for getting
Lost within the trees
Where branches long to hold you
And dance with every breeze
The Summer is for laying
Still among the moss
Letting their fronds absorb you
As you lay down your cross
The Summer is for wading
Through the swollen creek
Where the rocks and little fish
Wait to kiss your cheek
The Summer is for resting
And sleeping in ‘til noon
Then waking up each evening
To dance beneath the moon
The Summer is for lounging
Under an azure sky
And casting off your problems
With a deep, soul-cleansing sigh
