The Road East

The image is of an empty road, and road sign saying, 'Wrong Way, Go Back", and along the lower part of the image, there numerous other roads signs
Coffee House Writers / Ivor Steven

Unjustly, the road East is now Closed
To everyone trying to leave the city

Heed the Warning!
Abandon the Office.
Go to the emergency parking bay
Under the building.
Avoid the bomb-damaged streets
And the armed militia.

The once-safe, Great Ocean Road
Has become the Wrong Way.
It is the new Government’s Private Property,
And Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted!

There is only One Way to find the road East.
The old No Through Road
Is the foremost escape route.
Do not Stop. Do not Detour.

But Beware, and keep your eyes open
For the dangers of Crossing Ahead.
Soon, there will be no turning back.
The End is nigh!
