4 Movies I’m Ready To See

I can’t be the only person who spends hours on YouTube watching movie trailers and getting excited, even if the movies don’t come out for a year or so. So far, 2018 has been no disappointment when it comes to the blockbuster movie releases either. Avengers Infinity War, Rampage, Deadpool 2, and Black Panther were amazing. The line-up for the rest of 2018 and upcoming 2019 releases are just as incredible as the movies that have already been released. So, I’ve compiled a list of the four movies coming out in the next year that I am most excited to see. Take a look and see if you agree with me!

1. Captain Marvel.

Release Date: March 6, 2019

For those who don’t know, Captain Marvel will be the first female-led Marvel movie to grace the silver screen, and I am excited. It is the origin story of Carol Danvers, a United States pilot whose DNA is infused with an alien’s that grants her superpowers, that serves as her introduction to the Marvel Universe before Avengers 4. We know that the movie will take place in the 1990s when Earth is caught in a galactic conflict and that it will feature two other well-known Marvel men (Nick Fury and Phil Coulson). More than likely, Captain Marvel will also serve as an explanation of where she was during Infinity War and what called her back for her appearance. All I know for sure is that Captain Marvel is one of my favorite superheroes, and I’ll finally get to see her onscreen!

Excitement Level: 8/10

2. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Release Date: June 22, 2018

Fallen Kingdom is arguably the movie that I’m most excited about right now because it comes out first. It’ll be the continuation of Owen Grady and Claire Dearing’s story from the first Jurassic World movie and we’ve already seen some of the major plot elements in the trailer. We know that the island volcano is active and the dinosaurs are in danger. We know that they are going to rescue as many of the dinosaurs as possible, and we know that they are being tricked by a larger corporation that wants to sell the dinosaurs as weapons. Jeff Goldbloom is reprising his role as Ian Malcolm in a small cameo role, so I wonder if any other Jurassic Park cast members will make a surprise appearance. I only have to wait a month to find out!

Excitement Level: 7/10

3. Artemis Fowl.

Release Date: August 9, 2019

Based on the popular Artemis Fowl book series, the movie adaptation has already faced a fair amount of controversy. It seems that the movie will be combining two books for one story, which is an interesting formula that we’ve seen fail before in other blockbuster movies. Most fans worry that they’ll try to do too much in one movie. Then, there has been some backlash over a casting choice for the character Julius Root. While Commander Root’s character in the books is undoubtedly male, casting directors have chosen actress Judi Dench to play a female version of the character. Artemis Fowl was one of my favorite book series in middle school, so I’m not sure how I feel about the movie. I am willing to give it a chance, though.

Excitement Level: 4/10

4. The Unnamed Avengers Movie.

Release Date: May 3, 2019

In an attempt to avoid spoilers for all of you crazy people that haven’t seen it yet, I’ll keep it brief. We don’t have an actual name for the movie, though my best is on Avengers Forever. We’re not sure who is going to be in the movie after that ending. We do have a plot synopsis for it, which states that ‘our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.’ That translates to ‘we’re going to break your heart again, and you’re paying us to do it.’ Even if it’s true, I am still so excited to see the culmination of 22 different Marvel movies coming together. Besides, I am ready to see how permanent the ending of Infinity War actually is.

Excitement Level: 10/10

What movies are you excited about? Did I forget one that you think I should be excited about? Do you think Avengers 4 will break our hearts? Will they finally learn that genetically modified dinosaurs are a bad idea? Tell me what you think in the comments!

J.C Ballard

Jordan Ballard has been a writer for most of her life, a passion that has only grown with her. A student at Rogers State University, she studies Corporate Communications and Public Administration. As a pessimistic optimist, she tends to see the world around her as something she aspires to change. In her spare time, she can often be found reading the same book for the nineteenth time. Her dream is to be a full-time writer someday.

Jordan, good post! I myself have not seen the latest Avengers movie yet. I’ve gotta catch up. But, one other movie that I think you could’ve mentioned is the upcoming Venom movie, starring Tom Hardy. I’m anticipating that one, too.
