Inner Eclipse

I am the sun.

I bring light and warmth
To everyone around me

I offer clarity
In murky situations

I provide nourishment
Whenever I can

And I do my best
To overcome the clouds
In my head

I am the moon.

I provide comfort and strength
To those lost in the darkness

I embrace the mysterious
And gossip with the stars

I hide from the sun
Unwilling to expose my flaws

And I keep your secrets safe
For who is more trusting
Than the moon

I am an eclipse.

I am darkness and light
Living together in harmony

I contain both goodness and badness
For they are what make me whole

I can be strong and stubborn like the sun
Ready to tackle my problems head-on

Or soft and gentle like the moon
Resting and recharging in the night

And when they combine
In a rare, natural phenomena

That’s when I truly become myself

Erynn Crittenden has written poetry since she could hold a pen. This love prompted her to earn a BA in Creative Writing, where she learned how to experiment with syllables and styles.
