Noazi nayba | Nosy neighbors

chroo deh winda | through their window

Nobadi si deh | No one sees them
nobadi noa | no one knows
evri winda kloaz | all windows closed
eevn di doa | even the doors

Bot outta di bloo | But out of the blue
laik Gaama Sue | like Grandma Sue
dis jratid uman | this dratted woman
kohn tel pa yo | come complaining about you

Ms Gladys, yo noa | Ms Gladys, did you know
ah mi si yo daata | I saw your daughter
di waak han ah han | walking hand in hand
wid di bwai fa yaanda | with the boy from over there

Now wach yo | Now look at you
di bos yo braynz | thinking hard
di wadna | wondering

how dis uman si yo – | how did this woman see you –
chroo kloaz doa | through closed door
ahn kloaz winda | and closed window

Bot bet yo batam dala | But I’ll bet you a dollar
Deh aiy shaapa |their eyes are sharper
dahn lukin glaas | than a looking glass
ahn deh skil tu di toch | and they are skilled
Kaaz deh noazi ahn faas | because they are nosy and interfering

Az sohnbadi paas | As someone walks by
fays pres gens glaas | faces pressed against the glass
deh noh hoal di kertn | not holding the curtain
jos bloa ahn lik | just blowing on it like
lee breez paas | a little breeze passed

Nobadi noa how | No one knows how
dehy geh soh gud | they got so good
ful ah skilz ah tel yo | fully skilled I say
noazi ahn faas | nosy and interfering

Calpernia Charles

Sea breeze clears my mind as the waves washes the tension away. Belize my native land that breathes creativity and uniqueness with every ray of sunshine. Written words my way of standing up and speaking out.
