One Nation

Leaders carved in legacy

If they could see us now,
What would they think?

What would they comprehend?
With poor souls like us

A melting pot of a nation
With towers sky-high.

A nation built on values,
Integrity and courage.

A nation prosperous and blessed,
But poor in spirit.

Searching for purpose,
Alive and strong.

Imperfect and pitiful,
With a checkered past.

Bound with earnest desire,
To maintain freedom

For without our liberties,
We take all for granted.

We’ve become an empire
Doomed for ruin.

A nation our founding fathers,
Believed will forever thrive.

Adversity and hardship,
Brought well-deserved peace.

Prosperity, our veterans,
Knew required sacrifice.

Blood-shed sacrifice,
So we may live free.

Some gave their lives,
To keep our flag upright.

A symbol of survival,
And testament of endurance.

Earning us a battle scar,
We’re proud to bear today.

Many battles won and lost,
Bringing us to unity.

A scar our leaders knew,
We were deigned to carry.

For without that reminder,
We lose what makes us whole.

This scar, our leaders knew,
Carries a history no man can erase.

A blemish never meant
To hide in shameful disgrace.

For freedom is entwined
In every leader-bound oath.

An oath meant to protect freedom
And endure in our legacy.
