We met in the summer
our love like no other
you were like no one
I had ever met
everything felt familiar
but not everything was right

Ugliness hid
behind your smiles
empty looks blazing
hurt in your eyes
broken promises
now the reason
for lost love
this summer season

I had become
blind for your love
and overtime it
became clearer
you weren’t the same
I couldn’t excuse it anymore
and knew it was time
to be brave

Now I am starving
for your touch
your smell lingers
oh so much
I hunger for
your magic
walking away with you
as our summer dilutes

Calpernia Charles

Sea breeze clears my mind as the waves washes the tension away. Belize my native land that breathes creativity and uniqueness with every ray of sunshine. Written words my way of standing up and speaking out.
