Interview with Walt Heyer: Detransitioned Back to Christ
“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9).
Whatever you do, don’t believe the devil’s voices. He’ll take over your mind if you let him. After all, he’s the one who wants you to think he doesn’t exist. The truth, which is not in Satan, rests in the Holy Spirit of the Living God. When Yahweh calls, the world should take a second look and pay attention to the lives revived by the Holy Spirit.
If you are unfamiliar with the name Walter James Heyer you are not alone. His eye-opening story is one that exposes Satan for the liar that he is. Walt Heyer’s life began as a male child. Influenced by his grandmother, Walt’s psyche gravitated toward her desire to make him a granddaughter. Although navigating between masculinity and femininity, he married a woman and produced a family. However, by the age of 42, Walt made a choice that demolished his marriage and his family. Giving in to the powerful feminine mindset forced on him by his grandmother, Walt Heyer transgendered into a woman he named Laura Jensen.
Living proof! After he had experienced an encounter with Jesus Christ, Walt realized his mistake. Christ not only helped Walt recover his mind and soul and put an end to Laura Jensen, but Christ also helped Walt recover and live out his manhood with a confident divine purpose. Today, Walt is detransitioned back to the man he was born to be. He is happily married to a woman. His ministry aims to debunk Satan’s deceptions deceiving LBGTQs into believing God made a mistake when He created them and that they are “born this way.”
Interviewing Walt Heyer was a personal privilege. His answers to my questions confirmed personal theories about the LBGTQ community and silenced general public speculations. I asked Mr. Heyer about the period between his first encounter with Christ the Lord before or after he detransitioned. People should understand whether his decision to alter his body (twice) was spiritual or carnal.
Walt: “I had an encounter with Christ long before my detransition in 1990. How long before I do not know.”
Mr. Heyer’s website banner at sexchangeregret.com reads, “Take back your life. Others have. You can, too!” Cruising the site, I discovered several insights I hadn’t expected to find. I learned that hundreds of conflicted people plunge into the transitioning and detransitioning process. They are either sorry they went through with the procedure or have changed their minds about following through. I asked Mr. Heyer if his website banner is the core message of his ministry.
Walt: “Yes. And also a message to the ones who are considering a “transition,” don’t let them take your life.”
For writers, context and word choice are key elements for hooking an audience. In my mind, “Take back your life” connotes robbery and theft. Thinking of the people hiding identity struggles in fear of familial backlash or cyber-bullies, I asked whether the mantra connects to a stolen spiritual life and relationship with God or if it’s a psychological and physiological call to action.
Walt: “The message has a wide door inviting anyone to contact me, even to the ones with no spiritual life.”

Mr. Heyer’s life is a testimony of the loving, sure mercies of God. His story relates closely to Isaiah 55:7 which states, “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” I asked Walt to share a specific way this promise of God changed his life.
Walt: “My previous disordered thoughts [of Laura] with my redemption came to a new heart to prevent unnecessary hormone therapies and reckless transition surgeries.”
Heyer, the author of several books, speaks with genuine authority on transgendering and what it means to have faith in God. His book, A Transgender’s Faith, highlights his internal struggle and his breakthrough. During my reading, I envisioned him as the grand-prize in a soul-war between Heaven and Earth. Ezekiel 18:4 states, “All souls are mine ...” To capture the essence and intensity of his conflict, I asked Walt to share his intentions behind chronicling such a personal battle.
Walt: “I wanted to show the depth of tension within someone who was sexually abused and how difficult and how long it takes for them to understand the Lord is there waiting to embrace [them and] that [He] will allow the tension to go away through Christ.”
Heyer also authored a book titled Trans Life Survivors. I asked him to talk about the inspiration behind this book.
Walt: “I wanted the reader to see how this population is not all about homosexuality but about how each person attempting to not be who they are by attempting a different gender is a total folly that causes more harm to an already broken life. The book is very popular.”
Admittedly, frustration and anger flooded my soul giving thought to the physicians performing transgender surgeries. The first word that came to mind is PARIAHS! Bilking professionals preying on identity conflicted men and women. I’ve concluded the success of their brand of practice is built upon immorality and greed. Knowing my perception couldn’t be that far from the truth, I asked Walt for his opinion regarding these medical practitioners.
Walt: “In my view, they are misanthropes hell-bent on the destruction of all that is found in the biblical foundation of the family and a psychologically, emotionally, and sexually healthy society.”
At the end of the day, and for the rest of his life, Walt Heyer has a right relationship with Christ. However, even the most devout Christian carries residue from a smudgy past that is often not easy to forget. Some are better at being born-again than others. I asked Mr. Heyer, how difficult or easy it is for him to take command when thoughts of life as Laura Jensen come to mind.
Walt: “My past is just that, and long past indeed. I detransitioned almost 30 years ago. Today the Lord has command over my thoughts and behaviors.”
End of interview
God is not the author of confusion. Creating man in His image and likeness did not include pinning lies and deception to the psyche, biologies, or emotions of male and female genders. When God created mankind, He separated one creation into two. When God removed Adam’s rib and made the woman, He left inside everything Adam needed to be the man he was created to be. In the woman, God put in her everything Adam needed to help him be the man he was created to be. Everything that happened to mankind after their fall happened because of Satan’s influence over the “reprobate mind.”
For a professional take on the matter, read Professor Paul McHugh‘s expert opinion and consider the probabilities. Today, scientists and medical practitioners are spending millions of dollars to figure out and understand what the Bible discloses and explains for free.
Like Walt Heyer, hundreds and perhaps thousands of LBGTQs have experienced Christ along the way. Kevin Whittunashamedly tells his testimony of his revelatory revival and deliverance found in Jesus Christ.
Unlike Walt Heyer and Kevin Whitt, there are millions of adult and teen LBGTQs choosing to remain in the comfort of their socially accepted mindset. The unguarded mind. Inside the nooks and crannies of the unprotected mind, Satan plants plausible but doubtful thoughts to confuse his targets. He is successful when his seeds germinate into ideas that cause his victims to live contrary to the laws and divine nature of Almighty God.
