History Repeating: A Poem

I find my lungs won’t cooperate

denying tears of their oxygen

for I feel the darkness of the storm

A storm, I myself, almost didn’t survive

still trying to rebuild, yet

the air’s electric with negative intent

I know what dark road

lies ahead and the nasty

storms a-brewing, metallic taste

Though like a time traveler

Interference is frowned upon

but I can’t just stand by

umbrella in hand,

waiting –

suspended in time,

watching –

hoping

angry clouds dissipate.

Every cell in my being rejects

the dark clouds and angry rain.

Sharp blue eyes, a reminder

that the pain is real.

Gagging on this déjà vu:

heart constricts

as lightning strikes twice.
