A Creative’s Journey

Adventure

The beaten path is not for me

The trail laid out by those before

To walk along and see the marks

Of the more adventurous,

Those willing to explore

I don my hat and satchel

I store tools by my side

I swallow fear and battle doubts

Towards the forest I go

Leaving mediocrity behind

At first it seems exciting

To walk alone and see new sights

In secrecy it’s frightening here

To never know where one is going

Especially at night

It’s the uncertainty that brings us to ruin

It crawls into your heart

To be a creator, in doing your craft

There’s pitfalls and caverns

You forget why you started

Some days the storms will come

You may be out without a tent

Some days the sun will shine on you

And your heart fills up

With mild content

At times I want to return to the path

At times I want to quit

Yet a voice has buried itself inside my soul

It reminds me of the life I want

And yells that this is it

If I want to tell my stories

If I want to live my way

I must struggle on this path alone

And build my world every day.
