Brain Freeze

Words are cheap.
They scatter on the wind
Like wayward snowflakes,
Melting on the mind
Until one sticks, then another,
And the words pile up,
Collecting in snow drifts
That block the road
And force us to pause,
Shovel in hand,
In an attempt to dig through
The sparkling facade
Of ephemeral words
And reach their concrete meaning.
