At times…
When the jar gets too full
Too much to bear
And I’m close to tears

I have to get in the water
To empty it
Lest I break

The roar of the waves calls to me
I step further into the surf
It gives me a sense of peace
It washes away the dirt of my mind

Further and further into the waves
Until the water tickles my sides
I give myself to nature’s ways
And I’m baptized as the tide rolls in

The crashing fills my soul
And drowns out all my thoughts
Pushing out the toxins and making me whole
As the water beats against my body

I don’t resist; instead, I breathe
Let her empty out my jar
And let her have her way with me
For an hour or two until I can manage

The calm of the water is inviting
But I tell myself to remember
The same waters are beguiling
Tearing asunder the surrounding cities

The movement calms my soul
I crave the sense of peace
Deeper into the water I go
To release and reset…
