To Those Who Doubt Me

To those who doubt me, I want to say thank you.

Thank you for giving me something to fight against. I do my best when there’s a challenge, and you thinking that you have me beat is the best kind of challenge. Because of you, I want to do better. I want to be better. I will continue to do whatever it is that’s bothered you out of spite. I’m vindictive and do my best work when I want to prove a point. You give me the fuel to do that.

Thank you for giving me a reason to doubt myself. I have enough problems when it comes to being confident in myself and my ability to decide. That doubt makes me second-guess, even triple-guess, myself when it comes to the smallest things. Still, that doubt you help create does have some benefits. I know that I’ve made the right decision when all is said and done.

Thank you for reminding me that people aren’t all terrible. You might be if you’re creating these feelings inside another person, but not everyone is. For every person that tries to knock me down, there’s always three that try to build me back up. You are not a representative of the human race, and that means I don’t have to believe that you’re the only kind of person out there.

To those who doubt me, you have made me who I am. Thank you for that.

J.C Ballard

Jordan Ballard has been a writer for most of her life, a passion that has only grown with her. A student at Rogers State University, she studies Corporate Communications and Public Administration. As a pessimistic optimist, she tends to see the world around her as something she aspires to change. In her spare time, she can often be found reading the same book for the nineteenth time. Her dream is to be a full-time writer someday.
