Are You Psychic?

“Are you Psychic?” I hated that question because I never knew how to answer it. When people think psychic, they are thinking of psychics like John Edwards, James Van Praagh,  and Kim Russo who are famous psychic mediums. When people asked me if I’m psychic, they are waiting for me to respond that “yes, I am psychic,” but are expecting that to mean “yes, I am a psychic medium.” And I’m not, or at least not in the way most people think. What people fail to realize is that psychics are like people in that they come in all shapes, sizes, and abilities. Not all psychics are mediums.

You have Clairvoyants, which are people that can see or predict the future. How far depends on the abilities of the psychic. Some see the immediate future, and some can see quite a bit forward. Everyone is psychic to a degree, but what one can see or not see depends on the level of sensitivity of each psychic. Think of a psychic as a human antenna. An antenna is programmed to receive information only on the frequency that the antenna is designed to receive. Psychics are the same way. Each of us are designed to only receive certain information, based on our level of sensitivity. It is like looking at a pizza. No one psychic will see the whole pizza. Some can see two slices, others only one.  You also have Telepaths, who read or receive information directly from another person’s mind; Clairaudients, who hear voices; Clairsentients, who know information, but don’t know how they know; and Empaths, who feel emotionally what another person is going through.

The bottom line is that you have psychics that, like people, come in all shapes and sizes with varying degrees of sensitivity. They are human, and therefore not perfect, which means that they will not see 100%, and if they say they are then they are lying. My mentor and employer, David Campbell, is a well known psychic medium who owns the Astrology Store in Glendale, AZ. He once told me that the average for guessing right is around 30%, and if you got 50% or higher then you were psychic. 50% accuracy is considered psychic, which is why psychics do not see the lottery numbers. You would have to be 100% accurate for that.

Picture of Me

So back to the question people ask me when they come into the Astrology Store and I’m sitting at my table with my Tarot cards. “Are You Psychic?” Yes, I am psychic. Next usually comes “Do you read palms or Angel cards?” I really love this one. I read Tarot cards for my clients, because when I did cold reads, which is reading their energy, I spooked them. Now, they can blame it on the cards when they get nervous. So what type of psychic am I? The best way I can answer that is I read energy and whatever form that energy takes. I hear voices. I sometimes know the answer without knowing why, and I even hear people’s thoughts, and that spooks me almost as much as it spooks them. I also do some mediumship. When I say some, it’s usually because the spirits only show up in the readings for their family members. Unlike mediums, I can’t say “Mr. Johnson, are you here? Please let me know you’re present.” The spirits show up during readings.

Here is an example reading: A woman came to me really upset about her son. I got that he was bi-polar, suffering from extreme depression, because he wasn’t taking his medications. He wasn’t taking his meds because of the way they made him feel. The woman was nodding through the whole reading as I was hitting the issues she was worried about, then out of the blue she asks “Does he blame me for his death?” I went completely still in shock. He was talking to me in my head as if I was talking to another human being, and it never occurred to me that he was dead. Then as clear as day, as if I was carrying on a conversation with my friend or sister, I heard him say that no, he didn’t blame his mother for his death. He knew he was responsible for his actions. The woman was relieved and very happy about that. She got a good reading, but now I was spooked, as this was something that had not happened to me before.

The important thing here is remembering that psychics are human beings with all the same quirks and faults that other human beings have. It is the ability to read true and keep ego out of the readings that will determine how good a psychic is and what they are tuned to receive.

Psychics are human and they too can make mistakes, so be gentle when you look at us. Keep an open mind and choose your questions carefully, remembering we are human too. This in turn will help you have a great reading, and maybe you will be pleasantly surprised at the result.
