Ten of Cups
I thought I had the Ten of Cups
And wouldn’t be alone,
I read a family in my cards
Together we’d build a world of love.
But instead my fate
Draws the six of swords:
A woman adrift skewered by swords.
Did I swap my Ten of Cups
Or was it snatched away by Fate?
Why am I ensconced alone
With the promise of the cards
Hinting I’d never lay down your love?
Our sweet life of love
Traded for the Six of Swords
Is that what’s in my cards?
Has my deck lost the Ten of Cups?
Is that why I’m alone
Consigned there by Fate?
We’ve shuffled the cards
We’ll pose a challenge to our fate.
Can we find our Ten of Cups?
Has the hour grown too late, my love?
Can we lay down our swords
To give up these nights alone?
We’ve been far too long alone
Line back up the cards
Draw none from the suit of swords
Let’s seal our fate
With only love
And pull the Ten of Cups.
We don’t have to be alone to satisfy fate
I believe love is still in the cards
If we transmute the Six of Swords into the Ten of Cups
