yearly renewals are meant to renew
encouraging the shedding of the old
and allowing the energy of the new
revealing the future

old thoughts sometimes linger
forging their way through sinew and bone

tucked away in the darker recesses of the mind
hiding until they are ready to strike
expecting to create a bit of chaos

doubt filling with each breath
releasing into the air as you breath
allow yourself to move past
gather the goodness in your heart
offer up to the air the positives you want
never stop trying to change for the better
