Power
I hold a belief:
faith in my capabilities and self-worth,
a deep-seated trust in my skills
which empowers me,
inspires me to persevere,
gives me the strength to overcome the challenges of the day,
motivates me to keep pressing onward,
to strive toward my goals
and write toward my future
even though I fail,
even when my dreams are threatened by the sting of rejection,
exposed to the crushing blow of inadequacy,
or when the thoughts of self-doubt crack the calm.
The belief gives me courage,
makes me feel like I can do it all:
Charm the world with my wit
while leaving a legacy of positive change.
In my hand, I hold the tool:
A pen,
To capture my artistic inspirations
and detail the ascent to acceptance.
I hold the power.
