Paper Towns, A Poem About Loss Of Childhood

Paper towns and cities,
Arranged in perfect fashion,
A bouquet of white in place.

You remember the days?
How we used to construct wonders,
Built castles and people from scratch.

Colored each one,
Gave it life,
Each creation a pinch of magic.

Have you already forgotten?
The idea of childhood imagination,
That made us whole and alive.

That made every moment ours,
How you promised forever,
Swore we would never surrender.

Surrender to the dark and cold,
The lifeless world,
To the politicians and dictators?

Is that what we have made of ourselves?
Have we already forgotten the simplicity of life,
That is part of the essence of our childhood.

Or are we just beautiful ghosts,
Stuck in the cycle of longing,
For better days.
