Challenging Changes

Fall is the season for change. Everyone knows that, and the metaphor is a tad overused. However, the leaves change, and the earth gets prepared to be covered in snow. School starts in late summer, early fall. You get the opportunity to start fresh and learn new things.

Fall for me since I graduated college has been exciting because my Salted Caramel drinks are typically available at Starbucks. I have an excuse to watch my favorite Halloween movies, and it’s the start of the holiday season.  This year has a whole new set of challenges. Starbucks decided not to bring back Salted Caramel. My roommate and I are in the process of buying a house.  She also just started working remotely for the foreseeable future because of the Delta variant.

Change is exciting but can also be stressful. I’m lucky that my work for the day can be done with my phone and in silence, so I don’t have to spend all day in my closet.  I am excited about the new adventure. I know the area well because I went to school near there.

The thing about change is it feels like you have to abandon everything you love to make room for the new changes in your life. This isn’t true at all.

Maybe this change means you get to spend more time with someone you love. I get to sleep an extra half hour and eat lunch with my best friend every day. I’m falling in love with characters again because I can’t watch tv while my roommate is in meetings, so I have been reading and writing more. The fall season also makes me think of comfort. I love hoodies, blankets, and soup. I would drink cocoa every day of my life, so I love it when it gets cold because then everyone comes out with different flavors of cocoa.

Fall brings change, but if the change is too overwhelming, wrap yourself in a blanket. It’ll be better after a nap.
