When life’s burdens were more than I could handle
and my heart, a mangled organ with embedded blades,
overwhelmed my mind and shattered my will to live,
you came into my life.

With eyes so bright they pierce through the gloom
and a smile that chases away negative thinking,
you rescue me from my mind,
distract me from my loss.
You, with tiny hands that dispel the darkness
and feet that crawl, lighting a path to happiness,
permeate life into me again,
renew my hope,
and illuminate my once-desolate soul.
Your laughter, a virtuous symphony, lifts me into paradise
and stills the havoc within me.
I breathe you in, and you calm me,
tame the world around me.

Though you weren’t planned, you’re no mistake.
You are perfectly timed.
God sent you to me to ensure my lifeline.
You are mine.
