When I think of you,
I imagine our serenity
as paradise on earth.

I remember every moment
engraved among the scars
of my beating heart.

I see fireflies around us,
our only light, 
save the stars.

It may have been worthless to you
undeserving of a second thought,
but not to me.

You have decided
where our story
must end.

Cinderella would have believed it
as easily as I did long ago,
convinced it meant forever.

How can you not see it?
In spite of your betrayal,
I still believe in you.

Could you try to understand?
In spite of the knife wound on my back,
I still see your shadow by the door.

I still wait for you to crawl into my bed,
hold me in your arms,
and warm me against the bitter cold.

But nothing can be simple
or easily fixed.

I am drowning
in a sea of memories,
lost without you.
