Like A Naked Branch

Forlorn branches
Coffee House Writers / Aviva Derenowski

Leaves
keep accumulating
under trees.

Naked branches
greet me unabashed
on my way home.

Their canopy touches the sky
with delicate extensions, whispering –
“being bare indicates strength.”

I expose myself
and rise
like a naked branch.
