Petals flutter
as the wind rushes through the trees
with a quiet rustle,
creating a shower of pastel pink.

The slight chill, tempered by the midday sun,
becomes a backdrop for courtship symphonies
as the world blooms
and explodes into a mosaic of brilliant hues.

Spring,
the season of new beginnings and rebirth,
brings with it the foreboding promise of nightmares.
It awakens a darkness that looms through the extended daylight
and plunges with a blinding display of power.
Spring swoops into a tempestuous dance
with its sudden whirlwinds
obliterating all in its path,
leaving a trail of death and destruction.

Spring’s a magnet for blossoming magnificence.
It’s a pastel pink nightmare.
