Fall asleep in my messy bedroom mind

Fall asleep in my messy bedroom mind

It‘s a bit warped
and a bit buckled.
Painted – yellow and blue.

You might admire the walls –
They have grown so tall –
And I patched them with fabric and glue.

They’ve kept me warm and dry
And I’m proud of what they mean.
I’ve tended to these walls so well –
They show what I have been.

But –
I’d like someone to visit
To witness what I’ve made.
These odds and ends, will sing to them
Each souvenir will say:

This is a life!
Look at all these memories!

It’s a place, my room
It feels safe, my room
It has protected all I have collected
But art only becomes art when it is viewed.

So please admire my walls
As they slowly crumble down.
Explore this haven gently –
Have a look at all I am.

My room is where I’m safe, you see,
because it’s where I feel unseen . . .

Would you like to come in?
I’ve put on some tea.

Please take off your shoes.
