Holiday Etiquette

Holiday season
is all the more reason
to be kind and polite

Don’t take it
upon yourself
to just show up

Wait a minute
for an invite
an offer or
even what’s up

If you have lost your mind
this one time
call to see
what you can bring

’cause feeding an army
was never a thing
when budgeting
for the feast

And after you eat
get off your seat
and lend a helping hand

this is not a
bed and breakfast
or a ticket to lazy land

If you see something
you do not like
practice patience
with all your might

’cause your opinion
may just cause a fight
in the house you
occupy with no invite

if you see us smiling
with our arms
crossed real tight

Remember –
Holiday season
is all the more reason
to be kind and polite

Calpernia Charles

Sea breeze clears my mind as the waves washes the tension away. Belize my native land that breathes creativity and uniqueness with every ray of sunshine. Written words my way of standing up and speaking out.
