There’s a Crack in the Floor

There’s a crack in the floor

that’s hardly even noticeable,

but I can’t tell-

Is it getting bigger, or is it shrinking?

What if I step on it?

Would it shudder beneath me

and swallow me whole?

Or will the floor stay intact?

I could simply patch the crack up,

but how would I go about it?

Maybe some glue or concrete?

Is tape sufficient?

I need to do something about that crack.

It’s cracking up my mind, and I keep wondering-

what if water seeps through?

Or, what if I drop something down

that small crack in the floor?

Would I lose it all?

Or lose myself as I keep staring at this crack?

I must fix it,

but the problem is that

there’s a crack in the floor.
