Wake The FAAQ Up

Black like me but –

don’t think like me

We look alike but –

we don’t function alike

Survival 101 is not a class

taught to Black Americans

Trying to make a home

in the white man’s land

so use to being puppeteered

by the master’s hand

not able to reason

when given the option

Still on lockdown,

no need to rush

Master Governor declares

let’s open them up –

Nail Salon, Hair Salon

watch them pile up,

when they all fall over

we’ll open our stuff up

Ignorance or ill-informed

or do they just not give a Damn

test subjects Blacks are

ignoring historical scars

just thinking they are on par

Freely exposing themselves

as their strings are pulled

stimulus checks burning their pockets

easily bamboozled –

willing players in the perfect scheme

wipe out yourselves

and keep their hands clean

African Americans

wake up and watch

the hardships that rock

your population nonstop

blame the white man

if you must

but all changes necessary

will first come from us.

Calpernia Charles

Sea breeze clears my mind as the waves washes the tension away. Belize my native land that breathes creativity and uniqueness with every ray of sunshine. Written words my way of standing up and speaking out.
